John Kopra founded The Retirement Plan Company (TRPC) in 1992 as a recordkeeping and third party administrator division of the CPA firm Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC, in which he was a partner. In 1998, he founded TRPC Service Team, Pvt. Ltd., an offshore service division of TRPC.
In 2004, The Retirement Plan Company became a separate entity. As President and CEO of TRPC, Mr. Kopra orchestrated numerous acquisitions, contributing to the firm’s growth and success. TRPC became a subsidiary of U.S. Employee Benefits Services Group (USEBSG) in April 2016.
Mr. Kopra has over 30 years of experience in investment management, qualified retirement plan consulting, recordkeeping, and government reporting services. Prior to founding TRPC, as a CPA he practiced and held management roles with national and regional CPA firms. From January 2003–July 2007, he held positions at Arthur Young, LLP (now Ernst & Young) and Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche), where responsibilities included significant international tax work with US companies owning subsidiaries in Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, and other countries.
John served in the US Navy from 1974-1980. He received his MBA from State University of New York. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of CPAs, and is former President of the Middle Tennessee Employee Benefits Council. John enjoys traveling the world and has had many adventures. He has hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu in Peru, white water rafted down the head waters of the Amazon on the Apurimac River, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, spent a week in the Amazon rain forest, and snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
